I love flowers! I love to grow them, arrange them, smell them, and be around them. My passion started as a child helping my mother in the garden, and grew into an obsession when I married into a family that owned a garden center. In 1991 I took an intensive floral design class at the local vocational school and upon completion, began working part time in the floral department of a high end gourmet food store. While there, I was trained by a very creative and talented floral artist and eventually worked my way up to head designer. When it was time for more of a challenge, I moved to a very busy wedding shop which is where I met D.W. When D.W. purchased Haddonfield Floral Company in 2003, I did not hesitate in accepting his offer to work with him in this marvelous town. Together, we worked very hard to put together the very finest staff of designers, delivery drivers and support staff.
I am comfortable creating any type of arrangement that our customers request, but I especially enjoy creating arrangements with a rustic or country feel. Nature provides us with such unique and wonderful items to work with – branches, bark, seed pods, even stones and strange looking foliages. It’s just a pleasure to be able to incorporate them into works of art to bring joy and happiness into someone’s life.
Some of my best design memories are from the three years – 2005, 2006 and 2007 – that we participated in the Philadelphia Flower Show as major exhibitors. The experience and knowledge I gained from creating those exhibits made me a better and bolder designer. There is now no challenge I will not tackle with confidence and skill.
My favorite flower—
I love all types of garden blooms but my all time favorite flower has to be the Iris. The colors, the shapes, are so amazing. I wish they lasted longer in my garden but I have photos of them saved so I can look at them year round.
